The idea of a DAO, a (mostly) decentralized Distributed Autonomous Organization, donating to help Earthquake victims in the current mega-disaster is a good one.
We could talk about the magnitude of the need… Others have done that. Above ^^^^.
So I will, here, talk about how SO SO MUCH of the value that those of us fortunate to be involved in blockchain & Gnosis DAO in 2023 comes from the bottom up emergent order of a powerful new technology paradigm, and in major part, comes from the network effect and adoption of more and more people to Ethereum in general and to Gnosis DAO in particular.
Essentially, the DAO and Gnosis holders have benefitted from this tech.
It is, to me, a small thing to take a proposal to the DAO to ask us to share some of our DAO treasury riches, with people who need it.
Proposal should include a vetting mechanism to include only a small number of checked-out and mostly-honest charities that have reputation for getting a large percentage of their funds directly to those affected.
