I believe the only requirement is that you hold GNO tokens, and then it’s assumed you will also participate in the forum, vote on proposals, etc.

As holders of GNO, you are in direct control of the DAO’s funds.
GNO controls GnosisDAO and GnosisDAO controls assets of >180k ETH. So as a GNO holder, you have control over the purse of the DAO, which means you can signal (vote) for how funds are spent. This is a revolutionary “bottom-up” approach (or as I like to say “flat”) where all stakeholders have power - in proportion to their holdings - in directing the course of the DAO. Amazing times isn’t it?
