Executive Summary

Revoke.cash is a public good that protects Web3 users from wallet-draining approval exploits. Over 200,000 monthly users currently rely on Revoke.cash tools and it has prevented over $140M in potential losses. It has supported Gnosis Chain since 2021, serving ~1,000 monthly users and prevented $900,000 in potential exploits. We’re seeking a $20,000 grant from Gnosis DAO to fund infrastructure, maintenance, and continued development.

Background

Revoke.cash is a free, open-source platform that lets users inspect and revoke smart contract approvals - a leading cause of wallet exploits across DeFi and NFTs. Unlike token transfers, approvals persist long after a user interacts with a dApp, leaving wallets silently exposed.

Revoke.cash makes it easy for users to see and revoke those approvals, reducing risk before an exploit occurs. Revoke.cash has been active since 2019 serving as a first line of defense whenever an exploit happens.

Gnosis Chain Usage & Impact

Revoke.cash has supported Gnosis Chain since 2021 and continues to see meaningful usage:

  • ~1,000 monthly active users on Gnosis
  • ~$900K in prevented potential losses
  • Ongoing user support after scams and hacks

We maintain Gnosis Chain at parity with other supported chains, and users have come to rely on this.

Why This Matters for Gnosis DAO

While we’ve supported Gnosis since 2021 without funding, we rely on grant funding from chains and ecosystems to continue operating. This grant would help:

  • Support the continued maintenance and development of Revoke.cash
  • Strengthen Gnosis Chain’s reputation as a safety-forward ecosystem caring about the long-term sustainability of core public goods
  • Continued post-hack support + security communications
  • Potential collaborative Twitter Spaces and educational content creation with the Gnosis team

Budget

To continue supporting the Gnosis ecosystem and expand we propose a $20,000 grant, disbursed in a single instalment. This grant helps with infra costs, maintenance, security guides and educational content.

Evaluation

The success of this project will be evaluated using measurable ecosystem impact metrics:

  • Monthly active users on Gnosis Chain
  • Number of approvals viewed and revoked
  • Estimated prevented losses

Team / Organization

Revoke.cash was started in 2019 by Rosco Kalis as the first tool to offer token approval checking, and it has since grown to be a core security tool in the web3 space. The team is still small and besides Rosco there are a few contractors with strong experience in the industry.

Conclusion

Revoke.cash provides public good infrastructure that protects Gnosis Chain users from one of the most common and damaging attack vectors in Web3. The platform has supported Gnosis Chain since 2021 without funding, helping protect thousands of users and preventing significant potential losses.

This grant will ensure continued infrastructure support, ongoing development and ecosystem support for Gnosis Chain users. Supporting Revoke.cash aligns with GnosisDAO’s commitment to ecosystem safety, sustainability, and public goods. We look forward to continuing to support and help protect the Gnosis ecosystem.

@roscokalis Would be interesting to see usage statistics since deployment (AUM), permissions revoked (# and $), to understand usage.
I’m an user of revoke cash in several networks, and agree it provides a good public good for both users.

Can’t comment on the amount requested, but given it’s 2.2% of the total potential loss, seems a bit “high” for a “insurance kind” of expense - but the $1.6k /month to ensure the product runs doesn’t seem high; Would call to attention that revoke.cash batch feature is a paid feature, so could be interesting to understand fee generation for the period also

Hey @Notsoformal thanks for the comment.

I wouldn’t be able to give you $ values for how much was revoked. But looking in terms of user / usage counts, there have been around ~1,000 monthly active users checking their approvals on Gnosis over the past year, with about 400 monthly revoke transactions.

We have operated as a 100% public good for the past 6 years, and we’ve only started to monetise batch revoking last October since it has become hard to continue operating fully on grants. However, the batch revoking is not making enough money to even cover the infrastructure costs, so we are still planning to expand our monetisation this year, and we also still do need grants to operate.

I would support this, but would be nice to see a breakdown of costs and funding received over the years through Gitcoin, Optimism, and Octant.

Hey @mrtdlgc thanks for your support.

Between 2019 and 2022 we basically didn’t receive any funding, but also did not have too much costs. In 2023 and 2024 we’ve received significant funding from Gitcoin, Optimism and Octant, in total this is somewhere in the mid 6 figures range. In 2025, we received very little in grant revenue.

From 2022 until now, these grants have been able to cover our team and infrastructure costs, but we need to keep a similar revenue level in order to continue operating. Since we had very little revenue in 2025, we are trying to find new streams of revenue in 2026. This includes new grants and monetisation of some features (like the batch revoking that @Notsoformal mentioned).

The temperature check has closed in favour of the proposal. As per the Governance Guide, I’ve moved this to a Snapshot (Snapshot). Feel free to ask any additional questions in this thread.

P.S. I could not edit the original post any more, so I’m not sure how to update the post to phase 3 on the forum.

We have created a new market for the impact of this proposal passing on the price of GNO. It was added with ~200k of liquidity.

https://app.futarchy.fi/market?proposalId=0x47c80f5f701ebc5f25cab64e660f0577890729c2

If you are in favor of the proposal, you can currently buy GNO at market price, conditional on the proposal passing, and get your money back if the proposal fails.

An official widget will soon show up on snapshat to this effect!

The Kleros Cooperative will vote with 20k GNO VP based on the signal from the Futarchy.fi market.

  • Vote FOR if Price Impact (YES − NO) is > 0%
  • Vote AGAINST if Price Impact is < 0%

As of now, there have been only a small activity on this market; therefore, even a small trade of a few hundred of sDAI could control the entirety of this VP.

This is a prime opportunity to put your money where your conviction is and gain significant VP leverage.
