A quick post on why we backed Autonolas early on, what we achived so far and what are are planning for the future. We strongly beleive that AI agents will take over bigger and bigger roles in society and perform economically valuable tasks. We further believe that blockchains will play an important role for agents. They will be the “substrate” on which agents “live” (hold their state), pay each other, coordinate with each other.
Autonolas has build since many years the infrastructure for this agent economy to emerge and Gnosis has been fortunate to be able to back those efforts early on.
Together we developed and designed several components and other touch points have been there already:
- Safe as the basis for agents that acts as their onchain representation with the flexibility to do complex rights management
- Gnosis Chain as a chain that offers cheap enough transaction fees for agent to perform micro tasks in an economical viable way
- We together designed the separation of Agents and Mechs, kickstarting the agent economy in wich agents not only perform services but actually request and pay for services as well, allowing them to scale faster in their capabilities
The concrete result of all of this has been our effort to make Agents participate in prediction markets. Agents are certainly already capable of collecting and extracting information online and prediction markets are a great way to “quantify” the quality of those information.

Going forward we have many things planned to further build out the agent economy:
- continue with prediction markets that will become a powerful tool for organization/DAOs to “hire” agents to collect information (make prediction) for them
- let agents perform other roles: arbitrage trader to e.g. stabilize the USD/EUR price critical for Gnosis Pay
- experiment with agents as content creator e.g. on Farcaster
- set up a rollup on Gnosis Chain (Gateway) dedicated to agents to ensure they can act economically even if the tx fee levels on Gnosis L1 might raise
