GIP-118: Replacing sDAI with sUSDS in the Bridge

GnosisDAO has approved GIP-118, which reached quorum on Snapshot on February 21, 2025 with an overwhelming 99.82% approval. This strategic change aims to capitalize on Sky’s (formerly MakerDAO) Sky Savings Rate (SSR), which typically offers a 1.5% higher yield than the DAI Savings Rate (DSR). Currently, the SSR stands at 8.75% compared to DSR’s 7.25%.

The implementation will involve upgrading the bridge to swap all current sDAI holdings to sUSDS, adding support for USDS deposits alongside DAI, and changing the withdrawal currency on Ethereum from DAI to USDS. The proposal includes a phased approach with thorough testing and auditing to ensure a smooth transition.

While this change introduces some new trust assumptions with USDS’s blacklist function, the community determined that the benefits of increased yield outweigh the risks. The native token on Gnosis Chain will remain xDAI, maintaining backwards compatibility.

GIP-121: Accepting 7.5% Ownership in karpatkey DAO

GnosisDAO has voted to accept a combined total of 7.5% ownership in karpatkey DAO. This proposal, which reached quorum on Snapshot on February 28, 2025 with 99.74% approval, allocates an additional 5% of KPK tokens to GnosisDAO, supplementing the 2.5% allocation previously established in GIP-20.

As karpatkey prepares to launch its own public DAO and governance token (KPK), this strategic alignment ensures GnosisDAO remains at the center of karpatkey’s network. The KPK token will be deployed on Ethereum Mainnet with a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens, initially non-transferable, with a 2-year vesting plan for GnosisDAO’s allocation.

The karpatkey team has been an integral partner in GnosisDAO’s treasury management since 2021, managing billions in assets with zero funds lost through their prudent, rigorous approach to risk management.

GIP-122: Support for Gnosis VPN Development

Voting Closes Mar 12, 2025

In another significant development, GnosisDAO has approved continued support for Gnosis VPN with an overwhelming 98% vote in favor. This proposal provides $4.8 million and 500 GNO tokens to HOPR Association over the next 24 months to develop Gnosis VPN from its current proof-of-concept into a market-ready product.

Gnosis VPN is a trustless, decentralized, and uncensorable VPN service built on top of the HOPR network, Gnosis Chain, and Circles v2. The proof-of-concept demonstrated performance far exceeding expectations, with speeds 100x higher than initially targeted.

The development roadmap includes:

  • Releasing an unrestricted proof-of-concept within 6 months
  • Delivering a minimum viable product within 9 months
  • Launching version 1.0 within 18 months
  • Completing version 2.0 within 24 months

This initiative aligns perfectly with the Gnosis 3.0 vision of onboarding more users to the ecosystem while providing a much-needed privacy solution in today’s digital landscape.

:rocket::busts_in_silhouette: Delegate Program Launch

GnosisDAO has launched its Delegate Program, coordinated by StableLab and karpatkey. This initiative aims to onboard 10 dedicated delegates to strengthen governance by improving proposal quorum, increasing community engagement, and enhancing governance processes.

The selection process features 18 candidates, including governance experts, research teams, and ecosystem contributors. The top 10 selected will receive a 5k GNO delegation. GNO tokenholders can vote until March 11 using a weighted system that allows distributing votes across multiple candidates.

How to participate: GNO tokenholders can vote at delegates.gnosis.eth until March 11.
