I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the M3tering Protocol on the Gnosis chain! M3tering is a DePIN protocol designed to democratize access to clean energy through a peer-to-peer energy contracts. We’re excited to be part of the innovative Gnosis ecosystem and leverage its robust infrastructure to empower communities and revolutionize the energy sector.
What is the M3tering Protocol?
M3tering leverages web3 technology to create a decentralized physical infrastructure network that tackles the challenge of limited access to clean energy, especially in the global south. It specifies a system to turn solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) into smart contract code & uses smart meters for MRV and the trustless enforcement of the PPA terms. Enabling anyone to become a provider of clean energy through these onchain PPA contracts.
The M3tering protocol fosters a powerful network effect. Providers can opt to be rewarded with DePIN tokens for their participation in the network. This not only incentivizes them to maintain their systems and contribute to the protocol’s health but also creates a valuable flywheel effect within the M3tering ecosystem. As more providers join the network, it becomes more attractive for offtakers to participate, and vice versa. This snowball effect drives growth and incentivizes wider adoption of clean energy solutions.
