Best Practices for Managing Gnosis Safe Multisig for DAOs?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently helping set up a Gnosis Safe multisig wallet for a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), and I wanted to get some insights from the community on best practices for managing it effectively.

Our main priorities are security, operational efficiency, and ensuring smooth governance. Here are a few questions I’d love to get input on:

  1. Signer Threshold: What’s the ideal number of signers and required confirmations for a DAO treasury? We’re considering a 5-of-7 setup, but I’d love to hear if there are any better configurations based on your experience.
  2. Role Management: How do you handle adding/removing signers while maintaining trust and security? Are there any recommended frameworks or policies that work well?
  3. Automation & Tools: Are there any essential tools or integrations that make managing a Gnosis Safe multisig easier? For example, we’re exploring Zodiac modules, but I’m curious if there are any must-have automation features.
  4. Security Practices: What are some of the best security measures to prevent unauthorized transactions or compromised signers? Do you recommend any specific monitoring tools or alerts?
  5. Gas Fee Optimization: Any strategies for minimizing gas fees when managing multisig transactions, especially on Ethereum mainnet?

If anyone has practical experiences, lessons learned, or useful resources to share, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hi, welcome! For context, since Safe has span out of GnosisDAO in 2022 with GIP-29 they have their own governance and community forum that you can find here: https://forum.safe.global/
As well as a dedicated help page: Safe{Wallet} Help Center and Support.

A quick search showed me some similar discussions on the Safe forum but you might be able to find more: Advice Needed to Put Safe Multisig Into Practice for Our DAO - General Discussion - Safe Community Forum
