Nomination Statement

We are a governance group composed of ex-Michigan Blockchain members. Our team is currently made up of five individuals, all of which are deeply steeped in the crypto space and have multiple years of participation in protocol governance. With delegation history for DEXs, money markets, L2s, liquid staking protocols, and stablecoins, we’re acclimated with a breadth of sectors. We bring a diversity of experience to DAOs–our members have consulted for companies like Immutable and dYdX, worked at crypto investment and trading firms, set up various validator nodes, and run educational events for university students.

Our team has been familiar with the ongoings Gnosis and are impressed with how it differentiates itself from other crypto entities. We started looking more closely into Gnosis Chain in particular when evaluating a proposal to deploy Uni v3 on Gnosis Chain about a year ago. Ever since, we’ve followed the development of the DAO, in particular its uniqueness when it comes to managing a diversified portfolio of various assets–not just in terms of cryptocurrencies but also in venture. Arana’s investment arm has also followed projects associated with Gnosis like Autonolas and are intrigued by how other projects will follow in the future. We hope to contribute to the ecosystem as best as we can from the standpoint of a delegate, just as we have for multiple other DAOs.

Gnosis Guild is an Activist Engineering Studio with the values of conviviality, co-ownership, and experimentation at its heart. For over three years, our team’s modular tooling and needs-driven development have secured and operationalized the GnosisDAO’s governance and treasury asset management. These include: Zodiac Reality Module for decentralized Snapshot governance; Zodiac Roles and bespoke tooling for karpatkey’s non-custodial asset management; custom strategies for delegation; token locking and distribution systems for CoW and Safe; and support and development for other GnosisDAO initiatives like Hashi and Gnosis Pay.

As delegates, we seek to advance the DAO’s decentralization, growth, and innovation through our deep technical expertise, leadership, and creativity.

I have read and understand the process and expectations for this delegate program and wish to be included on the ballot for nomination. This application meets the eligibility requirements.

Areta Governance specializes in supporting DAOs and foundations to establish and grow decentralized governance structures. We develop tailored solutions in governance inception and optimization, ecosystem growth, and service provider selection. Our connected investment bank with deep strategic expertise, enables us to serve our partners holistically, rather than working in isolated governance silos.

We have had the privilege to work for some of the leading companies and DAOs in the crypto space (Safe, Uniswap, Arbitrum, Aave, and dYdX). Examples of our work include managing a larger Aave delegation, setting up key contributor initiatives for Safe DAO, leading the first cross-ecosystem growth initiative for Uniswap and Arbitrum, and crypto-native transactions like the first acquisition of Coingecko or the sale of Solscan to Etherscan.

As long-term supporters of Gnosis and contributors to SafeDAO, we are well-versed in the Gnosis ecosystem and its stakeholders, including key groups like Gnosis Guild and many of the larger delegates.

Over the last year, we have supported key initiatives for SafeDAO with dedicated teams:

  1. Key Contributor Initiative (CES): In an effort to support SafeDAO’s key contributor initiative OBRA, we developed a contribution efficiency system that enables the DAO to operate seamlessly, enhancing transparency and elevating process standards to an institutional level.   2. Token Liquidity Event: We supported SafeDAO as a key partner in the token liquidity event with in-depth analyses, process support, and collaboration with large parts of the team. We acted as process lead, sounding board, and governance facilitator. (Link: Forum Post)

As one of the few remaining early projects in the ecosystem since the xDai days, we’ve observed many evolutions of this network and the communities and contributors within it, and throughout this have stayed true to our roots, embracing experimentation and community as our core values. Breadchain Cooperative is a network of cooperative projects building the infrastructure for post-capitalist institutions. The Breadchain Cooperative builds Solidarity Primitives - development tools which help to forge solidarity between individuals and collectives. The first solidarity primitive created by the Breadchain Cooperative is the BREAD community token found on the Bread Crowdstaking Application built on top of Gnosis Chain. The primary infrastructure being built at Breadchain is to ask ourselves what if progressives had their own community currency and credit union? Where would we decide to put resources towards to build a post-capitalist political economy?

Breadchain Cooperative is with Gnosis for the long haul. We chose to move to Gnosis Chain after assessing it as the best ecosystem for us to build a future for our on-chain infrastructure. Our top priority is ensuring the sustainability of the Gnosis DAO community not just financially but also in how it interacts with community members. Governance systems that promote plurality along with harmony are the strongest and we think Gnosis DAO has all the ingredients to have such a community. As mentioned in our Delegate Motivation section of our application, we are prioritizing growing the Gnosis community, representing Gnosis builders, and ensuring community ownership.

Blockworks Research’s mission is to enable DAOs to reach their full potential by helping inform protocol structure, strategy, treasury spending, and community development. Our team of analysts has extensive first-hand knowledge and experience in crypto through daily usage and analysis. We like to define ourselves as analysts that are “in the trenches” of crypto. I’m thewanderingeditor, steward of the HOPR DAO, Member of the HOPR Association team since its founding and founder of Lexicon Governance. I am applying to the role of GnosisDAO delegate to represent the interests of the almost 500 node runners in the HOPR network, a decentralized mixnet which has been operating on Gnosis Chain for almost three years.

In addition to active participation in GnosisDAO in accordance with the delegate specifications, I will work to collect and represent the opinions and interests of the HOPR node runner, initially via the HOPR forum and later via bespoke tooling created for this purpose by Lexicon Governance.

Currently, Karpatkey and StableLab are figuring out some technical issues with the Snapshot sub-space, once these issues are resolved the selection process through Snapshot will take place, apologies for the delay.

After careful consideration, SEEDGov has decided to withdraw its application from the GnosisDAO Delegation Program presented by @Karpatkey and @Kene_StableLab

Having recently received a delegation from a significant ecosystem stakeholder, we recognize the importance of encouraging decentralization and fostering a more balanced distribution of voting power.

In line with our commitment to these principles, we believe that stepping aside will create space for other delegates to contribute and further the mission of decentralization within the GnosisDAO community.

We are a team from FranklinDAO, a DAO run by students from the University of Pennsylvania dedicated to participating in DAO governance. Our Governance Team has been active since the founding of some of the earliest DeFi DAOs and have made major contributions to Uniswap, Aave, Arbitrum, and Compound DAOs. We’ve been keeping up with the developments coming out of Gnosis for the past year, and would like to utilize this opportunity to officially become involved in GnosisDAO. We’re very excited to contribute to GnosisDAO and hope to strengthen our relationships with other stakeholders and delegates.

Introduction

FranklinDAO is a student-run DAO composing of students at the University of Pennsylvania, and is one of the most active blockchain university orgs in the world. Our teams range from Governance, Research, investments, and Trading. Some of our other current delegations include: Arbitrum, Uniswap, Optimism, Compound, and Aave. Members of our governance team are highly motivated and have a background working at Chainlink, Messari, and Galaxy.

Some of our recent notable accomplishments:

  • Current member of Uniswap Treasury Working Group, with plans to present findings with UniswapDAO in the coming month
  • Launched and passed proposal on Compound to implement exchange rate pricing for LSTs and LRTs

Delegate Motivation

As a group of passionate and highly motivated contributors to the crypto ecosystem , we would like to help Gnosis continue its mission of building infrastructure and products for the crypto economy and bridge the gap between old and new payment rails. We believe GnosisDAO has provided tangible value to the ecosystem through projects like Gnosis Pay, Safe, CowSwap, and xDAI. We would like to help push Gnosis forward by providing our unique perspectives on existing initiatives, by leveraging our network and background in governance, and by proposing new ideas for the DAO. We will aim for 100% voting participation and to actively communicate our rationale.

Areas of expertise

Our team has a strong track record having worked as delegates in other major DAOs, and have developed expertise in those ecosystems (Arbitrum, Aave, Uniswap etc). We also have a strong background on the technical side from a software engineering and research perspective, enabling us to do on chain data analysis as well as understand and draft code for proposals, one of which includes oracles and hybrid web3 infrastructure.

GIP-112 which is currently close to passing on Snapshot will enact changes which will make it much easier for the Delegate Program selection to proceed, the major issue is that the current Snapshot strategy does not support weighted choice voting, this is what we are trying to change.

To make changes to the snapshot subspace, several multi-sig signers need to align and it has been difficult to track down the final signer, we are looking to update the Multi-Sig signers, but this will have to be done with the guidance of the legal team, this may require a separate GIP.

I am keeping close tabs on this situation and will update as new information becomes available.
